Pennsylvania Regiments and Batteries

Pennsylvania sent over 320,000 men into the Union Army during the Civil War, second only to New York as the largest contributor of the northern states.

 

They were organized into 291 regiments of infantry and cavalry, 35 batteries of artillery, and a variety of independent battalions and companies of infantry, cavalry and engineers.

 

Most of these organizations fought in the Eastern Theater for at least a part of their histories.
