The Civil War in the East

5th Connecticut Infantry Regiment

The regiment was organized in July of 1861 for three years service under Lincoln's original call for volunteers and reenlisted for the war in 1864, serving until July of 1865. It lost 6 officers and 104 enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 1 officer and 82 enlisted men to disease.
